eCloud: managed private cloud, hosted in Belgium

eCloud is a way to modernize your IT infrastructure without having to shoulder the burden of the technology, expertise, and operational complexity yourself. You get a fully managed platform based on Proxmox, hosted in our Belgian data centers, with resources dedicated to your organization.

What does eCloud offer you?

Solutions are valuable, but only if they deliver tangible benefits for your business. Here’s what our eCloud bring you.

Predictable costs

Anyone managing a large-scale public cloud environment knows that the monthly bill can be unpredictable. With eCloud, you agree on capacity and services at a fixed price, enabling you to plan your infrastructure TCO over several years.

Scalable per VM

You do not need to predict years in advance how much computing power, RAM, or storage you will require. Scaling up or down happens at the virtual machine level rather than the physical host level. There is no need for over-provisioning based on having to estimate today what you will need five years from now.

Maximum availability

The platform features a clustered architecture with high availability, redundant storage, and a redundant network. If a node fails, the affected virtual machines automatically restart on the remaining nodes. Maintenance is performed using live migration, ensuring your workloads continue running without interruption.

Expertise across the full stack

You are purchasing not only infrastructure capacity but also access to experienced engineers. In the event of a complex incident, you get someone who understands how the components interrelate, rather than someone who focuses on just a single component.

Your data remains in Belgium

Your environment runs in professional Belgian data centers, backed by a data processing agreement and ISO 27001:2022-certified processes. For organizations with sector-specific requirements or a growing compliance burden, this represents a contractual advantage rather than a technical one.

Suitable for hybrid use

You don’t have to choose between private and public cloud. eCloud lets you combine both, allowing you to modernize gradually instead of overhauling everything at once.

How we work

We tailor oeCloud to your challenges and needs. But across all our projects, some key steps are always the same.

1

Sizing & feedback

We work with you to assess your needs regarding servers, storage, and network connectivity, and develop a tailored proposal. We focus on your actual usage rather than the specifications of your current hardware.

We discuss the proposal in detail and review all comments. Based on that input, we arrive at a final solution that is ready for implementation.
2

Implementation / migration

We ensure a seamless migration and implementation. We determine the schedule in consultation with you, then handle the execution without impacting your business.
3

Documentation & training

We value knowledge sharing and transparency. That’s why we organize dedicated sessions to inform and train team members, helping your internal team build expertise too.
4

Operational transfer or managed services

Together we define operational roles and responsibilities before taking the final step: the operational handover and the start of our managed services.

More than just infrastructure

Why choose Epact?

Today, you can source cloud capacity from many places: directly from hyperscalers like Amazon, Google, or Microsoft, or from large international IT service providers.

However, you soon realize that you are largely on your own: support is limited, there is no knowledge sharing, and there is little interest in your specific challenges and needs.

We believe in combining high-quality, tailored solutions with support services provided by local experts. You get a single point of contact, close by and vendor-independent.

The fact that we manage both Proxmox and VMware in production environments makes for a more balanced conversation: we can tell you exactly when a particular technology is the better choice and when it isn’t. In doing so, you benefit not only from our own expertise but also from the strength of the entire Cronos Group.

We have the capabilities to support your organization from A to Z.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between eCloud and Cloud-in-a-Box?

Both run on Proxmox and are managed by us. The difference lies in the location of the infrastructure.

With eCloud, your environment runs in our Belgian data centers, and you purchase capacity and services.

With Cloud-in-a-Box, the infrastructure is located in your own data center or a colocation facility, and you can choose between managed services or self-management.

Can I combine eCloud with public cloud?

Yes, and for most organizations, that is the most realistic setup. Public cloud is excellent for certain workloads. For other applications, factors such as cost, performance, data residency, compliance, or predictability make private cloud a better choice. You use public cloud where it offers added value, and eCloud where control, predictability, and TCO are more important.

Who manages what?

We handle the management of the data center, hardware, network, storage, and hypervisor layer, including patching and monitoring for these layers.

You remain responsible for the virtual machines, guest operating systems, and applications. OS-level management can be arranged as an additional service. The full breakdown is available on our management and support page.

Can I transfer my existing investments?

Where possible, yes. We review existing hardware, licenses, and agreements during the sizing phase and incorporate them into the proposal. For licenses such as Windows Server and SQL Server, the portability to a hosted platform must be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
